Most material for the single adult (single agains & never married) that I have looked at help prepare you for, and focus on the relationships you have or need to have with family members, friends, future mate, etc.
Seeing the need to address these, myself, let me say this one thing on the issue of remarriage. The Bible is clear that some of us that have found ourselves single again cannot be biblically remarried. I would like to encourage you to familiarize yourself with what God’s word says. Have a long, in-depth, discussion with God and then give yourself the opportunity to hear what He tells you. With the help of a godly counselor (Pastor, Priest, small group leader, accountability partner, whoever you trust to have an ear to what God says) come to grips with where you stand according to God’s will. Seeking a mate should never, ever, take precedence over seeking that close intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
For parents that are single again (custodial and non-custodial) keep your priorities straight. Christ being first in your life, your children should be number two. I don’t care how bad your relationship is with your ex, how much you hate, despise , or don’t get along with them and try to avoid contact, take it from someone that has lost that relationship with their child, nothing should stop you from pursuing a relationship with your child(ren). You must do everything to keep your relationship with them. Your pride will be nothing compared to taking a chance on losing your child. I didn’t want to lose mine and didn’t realize that in trying to avoid conflict or any uncomfortable conversation with my ex that it would end in the consequence of being a stranger to my son. If I could go back, I would do things different. The pain of your spouse choosing to end the marriage relationship, and doing everything they can to make you feel that pain everyday of your life is minor compared to the pain you will suffer everyday from losing your child’s love, respect, and desire to even just have a conversation with you.
Suggested Scripture for meditation: Matthew 6:33; Jeremiah 29:11-13; Matthew 19:1-11; James 1:2-4; Roman 8:38-39; Psalms 127:3; Ephesians 6:4
